The TRIERES project was presented at the 10th CEE Hydrogen Summit in Prague from 25th to 26th of February 2026, where Greece’s pioneering Hydrogen Valley initiative was showcased to a broad audience of European policymakers, industry representatives and hydrogen stakeholders.

During the summit, Dr. Stella Giannisi, a hydrogen expert at the Motor Oil Group, explained how the TRIERES project is developing a fully integrated hydrogen value chain in a real-life test environment. The project connects hydrogen production, mobility applications, energy systems and industrial end users, demonstrating how sector integration can be achieved in practice.

TRIERES goes beyond conceptual planning by operating as a real-world platform for validating pilot hydrogen technologies under actual market and infrastructure conditions. The project systematically addresses critical parameters for hydrogen deployment, including safety and logistics, infrastructure and pipeline readiness, cross-sector interoperability, and operational integration challenges.

The early phases of implementation have already generated valuable insights. Key challenges identified include regulatory gaps, cost competitiveness issues, and the necessity for effective cross-sector coordination and governance mechanisms. Overcoming these barriers is essential for enabling large-scale hydrogen adoption.

At the same time, TRIERES is strengthening Europe’s hydrogen ecosystem by fostering cross-border collaboration, supporting regional economic development and job creation, enabling replication in other regions and strengthening connections with southern European and eastern Mediterranean hydrogen corridors.

Discussions held during the Summit further emphasised the need for coordinated European action to accelerate the transition to a sustainable, integrated hydrogen economy.
